Trial Format

Inter Association Competition with both individual and school team events, for boys and girls.   Competition is age based.   All students must compete in their age group as at 31/12 in the year of competition.  

All triallists are asked to download the CIS Primary Cross Country App prior to the trials. This will ensure that you have all the up to date information you need your sport and the trials. To access the App go to either the App store or Google Play and search for AISNSW, once downloaded enter the following event code:   primary18.   Once in the app look for the Cross Country icon.

Entry and parking through Gate A.  There is plenty of parking available at the venue subject to weather.  Please refer to the Cross Country Venue Parking Map loaded under Related Documents on this page.

First Aid

Paramedics will be available. The ambulance will be located near the exit from the finish line. Students that use asthma puffers or Epi-Pens should have them with them on the day.  Students to provide their own sunscreen.


Students must compete in association running strip. Running shoes must be worn, no spikes.  No ipods allowed.

Food & Drink

Refreshments, lunches, drinks and snacks are available from food outlets at the centre.

CIS Team
The top 6 placegetters in each event automatically qualify for the CIS Primary Cross Country Team. Students placing 7 and 8 are named as reserves. These 8 students will be required to report to the Hinxman room at the conclusion of their race. Team members will need to register, pay the levy and purchase uniform on the day.  Reserves will be required to register their details and try on uniform in case they are called up into the team.

N.B Primary students turning 8, 9 0r 13 Years of age in the year of competition may represent CIS at the PSSA Championships but are ineligible for selection in the NSWPSSA Cross Country Team to compete at the School Sport Australia (SSA) Championship to be held from 24 – 27 August 2018 in Sunshine Cost, Queensland.

Students with a Disability
Multi Class athletes wishing to compete must have a provisional / national classification registered with NSWCIS and fall within the following categories-

Intellectually Disabled - ID (T20)
Hearing Impaired - HI (T01)
Physical Impairment (PI). This will be restricted to Cerebral Palsy- CP7 and CP8 (T35,T36,T37 or T38) or Amputee T44, T45or T46 or Visually Impaired T12 and T13 (T13 must run with a guide).

As there are qualification times for PSSA for Multi Class athletes, selection in the CIS Team will be at the discretion of the NSWCIS Cross Country Committee.

NSWPSSA/All Schools Officials

CIS is required to send officials to assist with the running of this event. Please refer to the NSWPSSA / All Schools Officials Nomination Form loaded on the website under Related Documents. If you are interested in being involved at this level please contact your association Cross Country Committee Rep or Association Delegate.

Wet Weather
The CIS Cross Country will go ahead regardless of the weather. In adverse conditions students should come prepared with extra clothes for after their event
